This I believe:
I live each and every day of my life according to the Zoroastrian tenet of Asha or righteousness. The main purpose of my life is to enhance my soul, and this can only be acheived by doing good to humanity by benevolent and honest work. I have always promoted Good and fought against Evil. Life is not a bed of roses and consists of happiness and misery, so I expect disappointments and failures in my life, and I must be prepared to ovecome them with courage and and conviction. Life is a struggle, and this struggle can be only overcomed by patience, foresight and honest hard work. I believe in living a simple and healthy life. Physical fitness and eating fresh home grown vegetables and fruits are part of my daily routine, as I consider health is wealth, the longer I live the more good I can do. I know that I will eventually die, as I do not know when that will be, I must be prepared for it any time. Therefore, I must make sure that my life is meaningful and helpful all the time.
My beliefs are based on my simple and Zoroastrian religious upbringing, my father was a very honest man, and my aunty who brought me and my sister up (after my mothers death), sacrificed her own life to bring us up , so I understand and appreciate the family sacrifice. I am a self made man and since 18 years of age I have been independent, and have worked hard to acheive a Ph.D. in biochemisry. I am retired now and want to promote my values of righteousness, and family values by my actions and writings.
The world problems as I see it arise from lack of righteous values which leads to evilness and corruption, and are mainly due to greed for money, materialistic goods, and power. I want to quote Mother Teresa in this essay on the subject of family values : “I think today the world is upside down, and suffering so much because there is so very little love in the home, and in family life. We have no time for our children, we have no time for each other, there is no time to enjoy each other. Love begins at home; love lives in homes, and that is why there is so much suffering and so much unhappyness in the world today. Everybody today seems to be in such a terrible rush, anxious for greater developments and greater riches and so on, so that children have very little time for their parents. Parents have very little time for each other, and in the home begins the disruption of peace in the world.”
“The most terrible poverty is lonelinesss and the feeling of being unloved. The biggest disease today is not leprosy or tuberculosis, but rather the feeling of being unwanted. There is more hunger in the world for love and appreciation than for bread. We think sometimes that poverty is only being hungry, naked and homeless. The poverty of being unwanted, unloved and uncared for is the greatest poverty. We must start in our homes to remedy this kind of poverty.”
